Public-spirited citizens yesturday apprehended an alleged thief,beat him,bound him,bound his hands and bundled him into the trunk of a car for a one-way ride to the Brickdam Police Station,Georgetown.

Eyewitnesses said the man snatched a gold chain from a woman who was walking on Brickdam near the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph company office and fled.But some young men in a car jumped out,chased and caught him at hadfield street in lodge.A crowd gathered and he was soundly thrashed before being bundled off to the police station.Here,the alleged thief is being put in the trunck of a car for his ride to the police station.(Cullen Bess-Nelson photo)
