We
must be thankful

Sixteen
years for the Government in office has been such a long time yet it
seems short. But for a developing country, Guyana has been doing well
on the international scene and it is because of the dedication and
commitment of the PPP/C administration. I
must admit that things are not perfect but it is very clear that we
are growing and developing at a rapid pace. President Bharrat Jagdeo
should be complimented for all that he is doing in the interest of all
Guyanese. There is so much to celebrate. Guyanese
who have been living here all the days of my 65 years can tell you
that things in this country have really improved during this time. We
should really be thankful to this Government for all that has been
achieved. I
am very happy as a parent and as a senior citizen to see that the
younger generation does not have to go through the hardship that I
went though under the previous administration, where life was a
struggle. Today, because of the will power and vision of this PPP/C
Government, this country has developed rapidly and continues to do so. Unlike
the years of the PNC when Guyana and Guyanese were under 28 years of
pure bondage, the long lines for food items and the harassment and ill
treatment meted out to vulnerable groups, are memories that will
forever be in the minds of the older folks in this country. But
now Guyanese are happy and can live in peace and comfort. For those of
us who are complaining about little things, they should look back to
the days of punishment and realise what they have now and accept it
with gratitude. They
should also try to support the administration in its policies and
programmes since they are for the benefit of all Guyanese and not just
one section of society. Monday, October 06 2008
